Godwin Ikegwuonu, Dr. Eng. I have lived in Finland for over 35 years. Studied at Helsinki University of Technology Otaniemi, where I obtained following degrees--M. Sc (Eng.), TkL, Dr. Eng. A Finnish Citizen for over 10 years. Also, received the Cross of Merit of the Order of the Lion of Finland in 2006. Espoo City should build more play ground for children. This enterprise is not too expensive for Espoo City and the playgrounds will bring immense joy to children and their families. Also, leisure activities for the youth is very important. Espoo City should build more youth centers, a venture which will keep the youths off the streets, thereby minimizing youthful exuberance. I will support the possibility for youth to engage in physical education and hobbies. It is especially important for children and youth to have equal opportunities in having sports hobbies. Sports hobbies should be supported with a special fund so everyone can freely participate in physical education. Otaniemi is a top center of excellence with different infrastructures, such as, TKK and VTT, and INNOPOLI Consultancy offices. I will encourage extra financial resources and more land allocation to TKY for building additional student residences and more land to TKK for the expansion of the University site. The building of more residential and business centers in Leppävaara is okay but we must make sure the environment is well protected and always taken into consideration in all future development planning. The rich nature of Leppävaara must be preserved. In order to foster better integration between immigrants and the people of Espoo, intensive Finnish language study will be organized for the immigrants. In addition, we will help immigrants get jobs by organizing workshops with different companies and owners of business enterprises. We will create a center where immigrants will be provided adequate advice and guidance on Espoo and their possibilities within the system. Married, have four children.
